Emma Jayakumar(nee Worthington-Lees) trained as an operatic soprano at WAAPA, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she also became a Licentiate of the RAM (LRAM) as a singing teacher. The recipient of several prestigious awards including the Herald Sun Aria, Vienna State Opera Award, AIMS Graz study award, the Dame Joan Sutherland Award and winner of the Fremantle Eisteddfod anniversary gala vocal finals, Emma has performed in Vienna, Israel and London with the British Youth Opera, also touring the UK with the Armonico Consort. On return to Australia in 2009, Emma formed Lark Chamber Opera with her long time friend and colleague Tommaso Pollio, in order to explore her interest in composition and goal to develop more child and family friendly works in the operatic repertoire.
